UH-1H SN 66-16401 currently resides at the Delano, California Municipal Airport. Present ownership is unknown. Prior to becoming a civilian helicopter, it was assigned to the California Army Reserve. Huey 401 flew with the 45th Medical Company [AA] in Vietnam. Photgraph from www.Airliners.net
Since this picture was taken, the aircraft came under the ownership of the Kern County Fire Department. The four pictures below show 401 which will be renumberd to Kern County 407 in its various stages of rebuild. The Huey is be converted to a Super Huey with a tractor trail rotor, increased horsepower engine and transmission. The Huey is expected to join the fire department in February 09.
This is Kern County Fire Department patch for 66-16401, a 45th Med Co Aircraft in the 1960's. Aircraft is redesignated as '407'
UH-1H 70-17599 currently resides in Marquette MI. Huey 599 was just received by the VFW post from a Museum elsewhere [must have been stored outside]. The helicopter was last assigned to the 336th Medical Detachment, US Army Reserve [now deactivated] in Newburg NY. No information available as of yet as to whether it served in Vietnam.
